Health and wellbeing for musicians

A network for Australian music students

In 2008, Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre has implemented several initiatives towards the health and well-being of students Queensland Conservatorium. All first-year students received information and resources relating to their health as musicians; Jim Bostock (physiotherapist with The Queensland Orchestra) is giving a student seminar during Queensland Conservatorium Project Week in Semester 2, 2008; and this online health and wellbeing forum was created for all Australian tertiary music students.

It's planned for these initiatives (and others, in the pipeline) to act as pilot steps towards the implementation of a national strategy addressing tertiary music students' health and wellbeing. The strategy arose from discussions at the 2007 national NACTMUS conference.
